TRIPLE CHROME PLATING
For years the term triple chrome plate has been the mark for top-quality chrome plating. In reality, alloy wheel chrome plating is a multi-layer of metal. Some of our competitors only use two layers, calling it Triple Plate. In reality, the two layers, nickel and chrome, work well on steel parts such as bumpers, but if aluminum alloy is the choice of metal to be plated, a true triple plating is required. At Total Chrome, we offer a true triple plate process utilizing a copper-plated base coat which fills in porosity. Alloy wheels, due to their lightweight composition and viewed at a microscopic level, have pits or voids which make them lightweight. The copper process fills in these voids providing an ultra-smooth and dense layer for the other metals nickel and chrome to be applied to. This additional plating step each wheel or part receives makes the difference from our triple plate show chrome vs our competition’s nickel and chrome processing.
